Some of the best family memories I have are of playing music. My dad played many instruments, was always in a band, and the jam sessions at home were just part of our thing...and still are 30 years later! I learned to play guitar at age 11, and have sung for as long as I can remember. I graduated from the Red Deer College Music Diploma program in 1991, and was active in the music community in the area. As a semi-professional musician, I sang in a local band or two, and did studio work...song demos for local songwriters, as well as background vocals and jingles. I also enjoyed a short stint on the road as a background vocalist, and experienced playing such venues as the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
In 2001, I became a mom, and my son, Jacob, became my whole world! I chose to stay at home with him, and I cherish those days. One of the activities we did was attend Music Together classes. We had a blast! The CD's were permanent fixtures in the players and I loved the songs as much as he did! Once Jacob was older, I was looking for a way to return to work. I wanted, though, to find something that was meaningful and that I could believe in. Music Together fit the bill for me. I have, for a long time, had the belief that all children are musical, and that if those abilities are supported and nurtured, especially by those closest to them, they will grow and flourish. I completed the teacher training required by Music Together in July, 2013, formed Codabugs Music Together and began offering classes here in Leduc in January, 2014.
Music has played a central part in my life as a direct connection to my soul. As a licensed Music Together Centre Director and registered Teacher, I now have the opportunity to help other families nurture their musical souls. I hope you'll join me in creating an environment of love and laughter to nourish your child's lifelong passion for music, and self-confidence to express the joy in his or her heart!
